Let us tell you – you’re not- there are no perfect parents. Come out so we can help equip you to be the parent you want to be. Based on surveys and interviews of parents just like you- we have lined up a series of guests speakers who are ready to speak on topics you care about most.  Including- Finances, Nutrition, Social/Emotional Development and more!

🤗 Connecting - Parenting can feel really lonely.

Come out and connect with parents whose kids are in the same phase as yours, or better yet those who have gone through it. Don’t miss our closing session with a panel of parents of kids who have just left the nest, who will share what they wished they had known while their kids were younger. You will also have a chance to find out about other resources for families and kids we offer here at Oak Ridge.

Date + Time: February 24th from 9AM-3PM.
Location: Oak Ridge Church
Cost: Registration is $15 which includes a light breakfast and lunch.

Meet the Speakers

Gwyneth Bradshaw

Nutrition Counselor at Fixer Upper Health Club
Gwyneth believes the ideal nutrition plan is sustainable, fun and full of foods you enjoy.  Gwyneth graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2017, and completed her dietetic internship at University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, in 2018. 

Marcy Disbennett

Director of Mental Wellness at the Epoch Dream Center
Marcy Disbennett is the Director of Mental Wellness at the Epoch Dream Center in Hebron, Maryland. She also meets one-on-one with program participants who require additional care and attention. Marcy’s passion is to teach kids the importance of social-emotional learning and help give language to the range of emotions they experience. Following the birth of her second child, Marcy decided to retire from respiratory therapy and become a stay-at-home mom. She believes that the culmination of these things have equipped her for the work that she is currently doing.

Jim Kaylor

Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for Perdue
Jim has 44 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.  Most recently he has been the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for Perdue.  Previously, he spent 6 years teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Salisbury University School of Business and over 12 years of facilitating Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.

Sherilyn Grant

 Lower School Principal at Salisbury Christian School 
Sheri Grant is the lower school principal at Salisbury Christian School in Salisbury, Maryland. She has worked in education for over twenty years. She has a Masters Degree in Biblical Interpretation and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Regent University with a concentration in Christian Education. Sheri is passionate about Christian education, specifically in helping to train the next generation of resilient followers of Jesus to think biblically and critically in all spheres of life.

Tara OBarsky

Public School Representative
Tara has been married for 26 years and is parent of two public school students who are now 19 and 24 years old. She has a Masters Degree in Education Administration; Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Secondary Education. She is currently pursuing doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
She is currently serving as a supervisor of Family, Community and School programs.

Heather Reynolds

Oak Ridge Homeschool Umbrella coordinator
Heather has been married to her husband, Mark, for 31 years and is a parent of three homeschool students who are now 25, 21, and 18 years old. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Salisbury University. She is the Oak Ridge Homeschool Umbrella coordinator and has tutored for Classical Conversations and lead the Oak Ridge homeschool co-op.
