Let us tell you – you’re not- there are no perfect parents. Come out so we can help equip you to be the parent you want to be. We have guest speakers who are ready to speak on topics you care about most. Including- Finances, Nutrition, Social/Emotional Development and more!
Come out and connect with parents whose kids are in the same phase as yours, or better yet those who have gone through it. Don’t miss our closing session with a panel of parents of kids who have just left the nest, who will share what they wished they had known while their kids were younger. You will also have a chance to find out about other resources for families and kids we offer here at Oak Ridge.

Gary McCabe
Marcy Disbennett
Pastor of Families & Mobilization
Director of Mental Wellness at the Epoch Dream Center
Gary and his family came to Oak Ridge Baptist Church in 2009. An Eastern Shore native, Gary graduated from Stephen Decatur High School, earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Carson Newman, spent a summer studying Ethnomusicology under SIL/Wycliffe missionaries and is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He lived for two years as a Journeyman Church Planter/Catalyst of Indigenous Music through the International Mission Board in Benin, West Africa.

Kris Buckman
Youth and Kids Missionary | BCMD
Kris has been raising boys since 2002 and serving in children’s ministry for over 20 years. With a master’s in Children’s and Family Ministry and experience on a national child safety task force, she’s worked with lawyers, counselors, and survivors to develop prevention strategies and a curriculum now used by churches nationwide. Combining professional expertise and real-life parenting, Kris will share practical, research-based tips to help parents protect their children and respond confidently to potential threats.
Marcy Disbennett is the Director of Mental Wellness at the Epoch Dream Center in Hebron, Maryland. She also meets one-on-one with program participants who require additional care and attention. Marcy’s passion is to teach kids the importance of social-emotional learning and help give language to the range of emotions they experience. Following the birth of her second child, Marcy decided to retire from respiratory therapy and become a stay-at-home mom. She believes that the culmination of these things have equipped her for the work that she is currently doing.
